Sandra L. Caldwell (Smith) , of Halifax and longtime resident of Whitman, died on August 24th at Brockton Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brockton, in 1941 she was the daughter of the late Harold W. Smith of Smith Farm and the late Irene B. Milani (Cheney).
She graduated from Whitman High school in 1959 and went on to become a homemaker, banker and worked for VNA services for many years.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, quilt making and a good yard-sale. Sandra was a volunteer at the Halifax food pantry.
Sandra resided in the White Mountains of New Hampshire for more than 15 years before returning to Massachusetts. In her retirement she treasured a good cup of coffee and spending time with her family.
Sandra is survived by her brother Bruce F. Smith of Whitman, her children Kris Ducharme and his wife Laureen of Middleboro, the late Scott Ducharme and his partner Debra Crawford of Whitman, Bonnie Barnes and her husband Gregory of Plymouth, Kim Ducharme of Holbrook and Michelle Pierre of Manchester, NH. She also had ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday August 30 at 11:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday August 29 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
