Ed Walsh, 84, of Abington and formerly of County Cork, Ireland, passed away on Monday, August 21.
He is survived by his three children, daughter Julie Ferraro and her husband, Mark, of Elburn, IL, son Edward Walsh and his wife, Karen, of Grantham, NH, and son Declan Walsh and his wife, Urvashi, of New York City, and twelve grandchildren: Nicholas, Matthew, Peter, Alaina, Jillian, Christina, Brennan, Nora, Mary, Kanaan, Sirisha, and Anaela. He is also survived by his sisters Helen of Dorchester, Mary of Milton, his sisters-in-law Allie of Arlington, Peggy of Norwood and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Julia, his loving wife Eileen and brothers Dick and Mickey.
Ed emigrated from Ireland and was an avid Irish football player as a young man. Originally, he worked as a laborer and then many years as a butcher. He was proud of his Irish heritage. He had an infectious personality and a great sense of humor. Everyone loved Pops! He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 27 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at Rotary) Whitman, MA.
His funeral services will be held on Monday August 28 at 9:45 AM from the Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Bridget’s Church, 455 Plymouth Street in Abington, MA. A graveside service will be held immediately after at St. Patrick’s Cemetery at 125 Central Street in Rockland, MA.
