Robert “Robie” C. Mastropieri 88, of Worcester, died peacefully at home, with family at his side, Sunday August 20, 2017 following an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Arlene D. (Cronin) Mastropieri, who died in 2016.
Born October 23, 1928, in Newton Upper Falls, a son of the late Leonard and Philomena (Savignano) Mastropieri, he was a former longtime Franklin resident before moving to Worcester over 12 years ago.
He was raised and educated in Newton and worked as a tractor-trailer driver for Kraft Foods & Sexton for over 25 years. Following his retirement he worked part-time for Stop & Shop in Milford and Shrewsbury.
Robie was also a proud American, and served in the United States Army, he attained the rank of Private First Class and was honorably discharged in November 1948.
He enjoyed watching baseball, hockey and golf, listening to country music and spending time outdoors.
He was a member of the Franklin Knights of Columbus and St. Anne’s Church in Worcester.
Robie is survived by his children, Joseph L. Mastropieri of Worcester, Carla M. Chiavelli and her husband James of Salisbury, and Paula A. Arends of Belchertown, his grandchildren, Jenna, scot Chiavelli and Danny Arends.
He was the brother of the late Joseph, John, Michael Mastropieri, Ann Wallace, Cora Sberna, Viola Wambold, Lena Mastropieri and father-in-law of the late Thomas Arends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Saturday Aug. 26th, at 10AM in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
