J. Paul Hughes, 75, of Anderson, died August 18, 2017 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
Paul was born, December 7, 1941 the son of Donald and Carrie (Benfield) Hughes.
He was a hair stylist for 55 years and owned the Mane Event.
He attended Sherman Street Church of God and was a member of Masonic Lodge; Madison County Shrine Club, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite; the Hairdresser Association and the Kidney Foundation. He was active in the theatre arts especially Anderson Main Stage Theatre.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Thomas and his son, Robert Hughes both of Kokomo, granddaughter, Olivia Smith of Kokomo; brother, Vern Hughes of Rangeley, CO; four sisters, Mary Cook of Alexandria, Eileen Hughes of Knoxville, TN, Avis Allen of Woodway, VA, and Louise Short of Pennington, Gap, VA; many nieces, nephews and special friend, Scott Johns of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jeanne (Hanna) Hughes; siblings, Don Hughes, Lois Flatford, Ellis Hughes, Carl Hughes and Hanna Lou Sutton.
Service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, August 25, 2017 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Ragen Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family to help with expenses.
