Betty A. Jones, 73, of Mystic, Georgia, died Monday, October 3, 2005 at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2005, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, with Rev. Brantley Seymour officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Jones was born May 31, 1932, in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late John C. and Myrtle Porter Prescott. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Jones was a farm wife and a former employee of Irwin Manufacturing Company. She attended Mystic Baptist Church and she enjoyed helping others in her community.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Donnie and Frances Jones of Athens and Dennis and Mary Jones of Ocilla; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers: John Carl (Wydene) Prescott of Watkinsville, Billy Prescott of Fitzgerald and Gerald “Jerry” (Sis) Prescott of Fitzgerald; sisters: Shirlie Lee (Robert) Vilt of San Antonio, TX and Sandra M. Garner of Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernell Jones, daughter, Peggy D. Jones and three brothers.
