Obituary

BOSTON—Frances W. (Williams) Atkinson, 81 years old, died Friday morning, September 30th, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, in Boston. She was the wife of the late Ernest Atkinson, who died in 1974.

She was born in Lowell, on February 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Frances (Doucette) Williams, and was a graduate of Lowell Public Schools.

Surviving her are a daughter: Mary Atkinson, of Epping, NH, with whom she resided for the past five years; a son and daughter-in-law: Stephen and Brenda Atkinson, of Lowell; three granddaughters: Andrea Atkinson, Danielle Atkinson, and Samantha Kinney; three great grandchildren: Brodie Atkinson, Ethan Dinis, and Jayna Johnson; a brother: Clarence ‘Pete’ Williams, and his wife Trudy, of Lakeland, FL; a brother-in-law: Gerry Atkinson, and his wife Dot, of Lowell; nieces: Frances (McGrath) Vines, of Selma, AL; and Kathleen (McGrath) and Oscar Harris, of Longs, SC; two great nieces: Christine Phillips of Selma, AL; and Catherine Jones of Wetumpka, AL.

She was the sister of the late Virginia McGrath, who died in 1993.

Friends may call from 4 until 7 PM on Wednesday, October 5th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered Thursday, October 6th, at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
