Obituary

Lucia (Russo) Agliano, age 69, of Medford, died peacefully October 2, 2005 following a long battle with brain cancer.

Born and raised in Siracua, Sicily she was the daughter of the late Concetta (Marchese) and Lucio Russo. Lucia worked as surgical nurse in Sicily as a young woman. She met Armando Agliano of Boston while he was in the military and they fell in love. They married in 1959 and she followed him to the United States, eventually making Medford her home.

Lucia´s pride and joy were her children, Frank Agliano and his wife , Debra, and Adrienne Lauretano and her husband, Arthur, and especially her grandchildren, Danielle and Arthur Lauretano Jr.

Lucia was an avid gardener and delighted in supplying family and friends with wonderful vegetables. She also enjoyed opera. She often combined her two pleasures. When asked her gardening secret, she replied that she sang opera to her plants. Lucia had a special gift for making friends, from the people she grew up with in Sicily to her team at Mass. General; She is leaving behind a legacy of friendship.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Wednesday at 9 AM. Followed by funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum.It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Lucia´s memory to the Brain Tumor Center, 55 Fruit St., Yawkey 9E, Boston, MA 02114
