Joseph L. Brady
Retired Boston Police Officer

EAST KINGSTON, NH: Joseph L. Brady, age 80, a resident of East Kingston, NH for the past 10 years, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH on Monday, August 14, 2017.

He was the beloved husband of Roberta A. (Miller) Brady with whom he celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on June 11, 2017.

Born in Boston on April 4, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas and Helena (Bates) Brady.

Joe was raised in Roxbury, attended Roxbury schools, and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School.

In 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Infantry until his honorable discharge on January 30, 1955.

Prior to his retirement, he was a 32 year member of the Boston Police Department. In addition, he was the former Treasurer of the Boston Police Patrolman’s Association.

During his retirement, he worked as a Security Officer at the Joseph Moakley Federal Court House in Boston and later at the Manchester, NH Federal Court House.

He enjoyed listening to classical music, and reading.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Coleen T. Brady of Tewksbury, and Joseph M. Brady and his wife Celeste of Conway, NH; two grandchildren, Jessica M. and C. Rosie Brady; siblings, Helen Barry of Hudson, MA, James Brady of Weymouth, MA, Margaret Welby of Halifax, MA, and William Brady of Oregon; brother-in-law of, Elizabeth Brady, Robert, Frederick, and Arthur Miller. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Brady was the grandfather of the late Hollie L. Brady, and brother of the late Mary Pawlowski, Thomas, Francis, Edward and George Brady.

Calling hours are Monday, Aug. 21, from 9-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment will be held at a later date at the Hillside Cemetery in East Kingston, NH. Kindly Omit Flowers.
