Obituary

BRIDGEWATER - William E. P. King Sr., 79, of Bridgewater died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Sylvia O. (Bentley) King.

Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (McKenzie) King and was a graduate of Bridgewater schools.

Mr. King was a lifelong resident of Bridgewater.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Bunker Hill in the Pacific Fleet and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.

Mr. King owned and operated Kings Appliance Repair for 26 years, from where he retired.

He previously worked at the Fore River Ship Yard in Quincy for 25 years.

Mr. King was a member of the Knights of Columbus 488 for over 25 years and a past grand knight.

He enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod, traveling with his wife, his Irish music and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Sylvia, he is survived by his children, William King Jr. and his wife Susan of Stoughton, and Mary Correia and her husband Robert of Bridgewater; his sister, Jeanette King of Brockton; his grandchildren, Tara Cruza, Amy King, Allyson Correia, Danielle King and Brian King; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Robert and James King.

His funeral will be from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Thursday at 10 am., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, at 10:45 am.

Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 pm. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
