FALL RIVER – Helena Joaquim, age 89 of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017. Born in Fall River, she was the wife of the late William Joaquim & the daughter of the late Joseph A. & Dorothy (Almeida) Fortin. She lived in Swansea for 25 yrs. & then in Fall River for 18 yrs.
Prior to retiring in 1990, Helena worked for 31 years as a machine operator for Rondo Knit Sportswear, and for a number of years at Deknatel. She was a communicant of St. Dominic’s Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy (Joaquim) Medeiros (husband Roy) of N. Dartmouth, 2 sons, William Joaquim Jr. of Fall River and Wayne S. Joaquim of Myrtle Beach, SC, her brother, Arthur Fortin of FL, 4 grandchildren, Neil Medeiros, William Joaquim III, Wayne S. Joaquim Jr., & Jennifer Joaquim, 2 great grandchildren, Thatcher Joaquim & Nathan Medeiros. She was the sister of the late Joseph A. & Raymond Fortin, and Alice (Fortin) Nidorf.

Family & friends are invited to attend Helena’s Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 in St. Dominic’s Church, Swansea at 11:00 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River, MA.
