Francis J. “Frank” Yered, Sr., 79, of Medway, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at Ellis Nursing and Rehab Center in Norwood. He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. “Peggy” (MacDonald) Yered for 55 years.
Born in Boston on November 26, 1937, he was the son of George J. Yered, Sr. of Needham and the late Dolores J. (Matchett) Yered.
Mr. Yered was a resident of Medway for the past 50 years. He grew up in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School.
Mr. Yered proudly served in the Air Force for 2 years.
Before his retirement, he worked as a cameraman at Am Print in Holliston for 12 years and previously at the former Hub Mail Advertising in Boston for 30 years.
Mr. Yered was a talented artist, enjoyed carpentry, working with his hands and working in his yard. He also enjoyed music and collecting model cars. He coached little league in Medway for many years and was also an avid sports fan. A lifetime fan of Boston sports; especially the Bruins and Red Sox, Frank loved spending time with his grandchildren and attended all of their sporting events and activities. He especially enjoyed Medway High School hockey and the playoff runs over the years.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his children, Susan Yered of Medway, Francis, Jr. of Franklin, Kristen Kaufman and her husband Adam of Medway, David Yered and his fiancée Lisa Rezzuti of Franklin and Beth Yered of South Boston and her significant other Michael Oliveira of Raynham and four grandchildren, Emily and Kevin Kaufman and Mason and Colton Yered. In addition to his grandchildren, he loved spending time with his two grand-dogs, Remy and Bauer Kaufman.
He is also survived by a brother George, Jr. and his wife Janet of Millis, a sister Sarah Adams and her husband John of Needham, a sister-in-law Virginia Yered of Millis, an aunt Martha Kisser of Springfield, his longtime childhood friend, Vincent Sarro and his wife Barbara of Dedham and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Robert Yered.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway on Saturday, August 19 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
