Obituary

Allen M. DePersia, 83, of Stonington Borough passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen DePersia.

He was born in Hartford on November 24, 1933, the son of Michael and Lucy (Taylor) DePersia. He grew up in Glastonbury and attended the University of Connecticut School of Agriculture. He joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 1954 and was stationed in Germany serving for two years in the Corp of Engineers. His business career spanned 43 years being self employed as a mason contractor in Glastonbury. He founded DePersia Mason Contractors, Inc., and his work can be seen on many brick buildings throughout Connecticut.

Allen was a former member of the Glastonbury Lions Club, past president and member of the Mason Contractors Association of Connecticut, He was an early member and past president of the Glastonbury Auxiliary Police Ambulance Association, and a 26-year member, past president, and Paul Harris Fellow of the Glastonbury Rotary Club.

In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by his daughter Karen DePersia and her husband Tom Brown of Ashford and her children Hannah and Brian Rouillard, three sons, David DePersia of West Hartford, Jeffrey and his wife Kathy DePersia of Hebron and their children Cody and Jason and James and his wife Sherri DePersia of Hebron and their children Evan, Alexa, and Dylan. He is also survived by his stepchildren Krisanne Trainor of Stonington and Matthew and his wife Anna Tscheulin of Newport. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Grant of Willington.

Allen is predeceased by his first wife of 57 years, Geraldine DePersia.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 21, at 11:00 am at the Calvary Episcopal Church, 33 Church Street, Stonington. Burial will be private for the family.
