Obituary

James Marfoli, 60, of the South End Boston, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home August 1, 2017. Beloved son of Helen Marfoli and predeceased Vincent Marfoli also of the South End of Boston.
Also, survived by cousins and several lifelong friends. Jimmy had a special relationship with his predeceased grandmother, Ya Ya, whom he adored.
Jim was born on November 10, 1956. He was a lifelong residence of the South End and a well-known fixture in the Ellis Neighborhood for the past 60 years. He was a faithful and devoted son. Having dedicated the past 6 years of his life to the care and wellbeing of his mother, Helen who resides at Spaulding Nursing Home in the North End.
Jim’s life was spent with many struggles and hurtles to overcome. His early childhood education was at The Cotting School for Children with disabilities at that time located in the South End. In 1980 Jimmy graduated from Northeastern University with a Pharmaceutical degree. He had an astute mind for technology. He was not defined by his disabilities.
His argumentative spirit yet candor and intellectual advice will be greatly missed. To his friends he was a kind, respectful soul who was unwavering in his willingness to help at a moment’s notice. He had an immense amount of wisdom and was a good listener. Jimmy will especially be remembered for his compassion and selfless attitude towards life which mirrored itself in the reflection of his infectious smile. He had a lifelong loyalty to all he loved and will be forever missed.
Services will be held at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St, South Boston 02127 on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 2:00PM. A reception will follow at Billy’s Sub Shop, 57 Berkeley St, Boston.
