Andrew W. “Billy” Rowell, 76, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Rowell was born September 20, 1940, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late A. T. & Velma Maudine Whitley Rowell. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a longtime farmer and formerly worked for Dixie Grain and Elevator. Mr. Rowell was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
He is survived by his son, Andy & Sandy Rowell of Ocilla; two grandchildren: Justin & Kendra Rowell of Irwinville and Scott Rowell & Whitney Stephenson of Ocilla; two great-grandchildren: Jonathan Rowell and Layla Rowell; two brothers: Leroy Rowell of Irwinville and Tommy & Tammy Rowell of Fitzgerald; and two sisters: Frances & Richard Taylor of Rochelle and Martha & Patrick Roe of Ocilla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Rowell and a sister, Betty Sue Jones.
