Obituary

Robert A. Dudley, 85, of Cumberland, formerly of Woonsocket, died Thursday August 3, 2017. He was the loving husband of Theresa M. (LeToile) Dudley. They were married on January 5, 1952.
Born and raised in Woonsocket he was a son of the late John Dudley and Alice Cote and step-son of the late Ovila Forget.
Mr. Dudley served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. During his time in the service he was a Chief Mechanic for Navy aircraft at Bradley International Airport. He was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon.
Mr. Dudley served with the Woonsocket Fire Department for over 33 years retiring as a Lieutenant in 1991.
Bob enjoyed model shipbuilding. He was a voracious reader and especially liked books about history. Bob was also a car enthusiast and was meticulous about maintaining his wheels.
Bob will be remembered as as devoted husband and father. One of his most favorite roles in life was being a grandfather and then a great-grandfather. Underneath Bob’s quiet and reserved demeanor was a man with a heart of gold.
In addition to his wife of over 65 years he is survived by a son Michael R. Dudley and his wife Rebecca of Millville and daughter Diane B. Thornburg of FL. He was the bother of the late John Dudley. He is also survived by his grandchildren Seth Dudley, Ashley Montgomery, Courtney Maroulis and Katelyn Welch and 5 great-grandchildren with another arriving soon.
