Obituary

Irving (“Bill”) Quimby passed away on July 24, 2017 in Brighton, MA of natural causes. Born in Berlin, NH on June 22, 1943, the son of Irving W. Quimby, Sr. and Loretta (Bergeron) Quimby, he attended various Berlin elementary schools and Berlin High School, where he lettered in basketball, graduating in 1961. He was a 1965 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, majoring in government, and was a member of ROTC. He was commissioned a second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps and served two years on active duty, including a tour in Vietnam, where he was stationed at Cam Rahn Bay.
Upon completion of active duty, he taught at Berlin High School and then moved to New York to work for the Ford Foundation. He subsequently moved into the commercial insurance brokerage industry, working for Marsh and McLennan, Johnson and Higgins, and Frank B. Hall, among other firms, where he managed large international client accounts. Upon retiring, he relocated to the Boston area.

He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his brother David and sister-in-law Chunsin Quimby of Santa Ana, CA; his sister, Linda Quimby, of Exeter, NH; as well as his nephews Francis, and his wife Andrea, of Fairfield, CT and Jason, and his wife Cynthia, of Irvine, CA. He also leaves two grand-nephews, Jameson and Brendan Quimby of Irvine, CA and a grand-niece, Madeline, also of Irvine.

An internment service will be held at the family plot at Mt. Calvary cemetery in Berlin, NH on August 19th at 1 PM. Arrangements are being managed by Bryant Funeral Home, Berlin, NH.
