James A. Fiore died peacefully at the Pine Knoll Nursing Home of Lexington. He was 81. Born and raised in Everett, he was the son of the late Andrew and Archangela (DiTommaso) Fiore. A solid athlete in his younger years, James played football with Everett’s Crimson Tide, while in High School. James remained a sports enthusiast throughout his life and followed the Red Sox and Patriots. He served in the Air Force, earning the rank of Sergeant and he earned his Bachelor Degree from Northeastern University in Chemical Engineering, specializing in water treatment facilities and worked with large firms such as Badger and Raytheon. He rounded out his career as an engineer on the Big Dig. James was devoted to his family and was a devout Catholic, teaching CCD at Saint Francis Parish in Medford. He also taught at Salem State University, where he instructed students in the practice of palm reading, an interest he developed and studied over the years.
The beloved husband of the late Louise (DeLaria), he was a devoted father to Clifford Thomas Fiore of Everett, Michael James Fiore of Medford, Paul David Fiore and his wife Denise of Chelmsford, Li-Anne Leicester of N. Carolina and Kristin Louise Fiore and her husband Edward K. Rice Jr. of Medford. He was a loving grandfather of Evan Jakob Fiore of Cambridge, Alyssa Grace Fiore of Chelmsford, Edwin Michel of Rochester, NH and Nicholas Jordan Rice of Malden, Hannah MacKay and Olivia Moreno, as well as a loving great-grandfather of Olivia Lynn and Nicholas Jordan, Jr. He was the dear brother of Andrew of N. Reading, Anthony of Everett, and the late Connie Dober and Peter.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday August 10 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, 4-8 PM. Interment private.
