Willow Ree Young, 81, of Ben Hill County, Georgia, died Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Monday, August 7, 2017, at New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church with the Rev. Edsel Young and the Rev. Adam Young officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Young was born January 28, 1936, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Joshua & Ethel Wright Spell. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She worked as a seamstress at Irwin Manufacturing, drove a school bus for Ben Hill County, and worked in sales at B.C. Moore’s in Fitzgerald. She was an avid musician, playing piano and organ at her church. Mrs. Young was fond of the old hymns and loved to sing. She was a member of New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Virgil Young of Ben Hill County, children and their spouses: Rhonda Croft & Ray Beard of Ben Hill County, Keith & Anita Young of Ben Hill County, Faye & Bill Pender of Snellville, Ollie & Julian Tucker of Irwin County, Josie & Scott Barrett of Freeport, Florida, Edsel & Janice Young of Ben Hill County, Carlotta & Lamar Goodman of Ben Hill County, and Jason Ledbetter of Alma; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother, Luther Pete Spell of Monroe; and four sisters: Ethel Mae Young of Jackson, Luvenia Joiner of Douglas, Ann Walls of Wray, and Betty Long of Douglas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Keithern Young and a sister, Juanita Spell Young.
