John Wesley Johnson, 68, of Malden, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2017.
Son of the late Wesley and Alda Johnson, John is survived by three sons, John Jr. of Malden, Wesley Matthew, Kyle David, and daughter Jessica Claire, of Wasilla, Alaska, and step- son Michael Alden of Reading. Grandsons John and Ivan of Malden. He is also survived by his twin sister, Joyce Rabbitt of Gloucester, two brothers, Bruce Gatchell of New Hampshire and Bob Bassett of Maine. John also leaves his nephew Spencer Peavy, niece Jocelyn Dalton, dear cousins Claire, Charles and David Chalmers and many loyal friends.
Educated in the Malden school system, John was a successful entrepreneur opening Frontier Carpet in Wasilla, AK, and continued his carpet and flooring career in the lower 48.
John's interests included riding motorcycles and music. He was a natural and gifted musician, playing both piano and trumpet, performing as a child with his twin sister at Boston's Symphony Hall. Athletically inclined, he set records in weight lifting, played semi-pro football and was an avid water-skier. If you met "JJ", you likely would never forget him. Always quick with a joke, "JJ" was a man of many talents and was a character larger than life. He made a lasting impression on those in his circles and he will be missed.
Calling hours to pay final respects will take place at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden, MA on Tuesday August 8th from 11:30am-1:30pm, with interment following directly at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted for his children at the GOFUNDME, Children of John "JJ" Johnson.
