Edward A. Gustafson, age 88 of North Dighton, passed away on August 4, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton.
He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Denbow) Gustafson.
He was born in Taunton, a son of the late Harold and Helen (Atherton) Gustafson.
Edward proudly served his country with the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Before retirement, Mr. Gustafson was the owner and operator of North River Farm. He enjoyed fixing equipment and was known as "the Frankenstein" of his day. He could make any engine run for the tractor pulls at the Rehoboth Fair or for racing at Seekonk Speedway. He loved the coffee shop and family gatherings.
Edward is survived by his sons; Edward A Gustafson Jr. and wife Amy of Dighton, Marvin S. Gustafson of Taunton, daughters; Susan J. Gustafson and husband Robert Adams, Julie Riccio, Diane L. Gustafson and husband Robert Taylor and Doris H. Giroux and husband Paul all of Dighton. He also leaves eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elwin Atherton and Louis Rounds.
Mr. Gustafson’s funeral will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 9 am with a funeral service to begin at 10 am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. Interment will follow in Burt Crane Gulliver & Walker Cemetery, Gulliver St. Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 9th from 4 to 8 pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
