Jose J. Rodrigues, 88, of New Bedford passed away on Wednesday August 2, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Jose and Laura (Pina) Rodrigues, he came to the United States in 1947 and lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Rodrigues was formerly employed as a boiler engineer for the Polaroid Corporation until his retirement.
During the Korean War, he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Bisca Tournament Club.
He will be missed and loved forever, by all his family and friends.
He is survived by daughter Nancy Rhodus and her son Christopher Corona, son Jose Rodrigues, daughter Marian Bressner and her husband Glen and their children Jarred and Ryan, daughter Laurie Garber and her husband Ross and their children Hailey and Harrison; sister Wilhelmina Senna; sister-in-law, Madalena Rodrigues; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Joao Rodrigues, Julio Rodrigues, and Maria J. Rodrigues.
His Funeral will be held on Monday August 7, 2017 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 9 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday August 6, 2017 from 2-5 PM.
