Obituary

Charles Anthony McCranie, 92, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Kevin Kilgore officiating. Mr. McCranie will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Robby Kinard, Ricky Kinard, Dale Beard, Glenn Beard and Mr. McCranie’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Gideons International, Tifton Camp and members of the Adult 1 Men’s Sunday school class at Northside Baptist Church.

Born April 23, 1925 in Adel, Mr. McCranie was the son of the late John Weston McCranie and Hardy Estelle Pafford McCranie. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Inez Cauthen McCranie. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company.

He was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Chairman of the Board of Deacons, as well as being active in the church choir. He was also a member of The Gideons International, Tifton Camp.

Mr. McCranie is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Tanya McCranie of Orange Park, Florida, Rodney and Brenda McCranie of Warner Robins and Charlene McCranie of Tifton; along with eleven grandchildren, Kyle Moody, Jeffrey McCranie, Charles “Chad” McCranie and wife Hayley McCranie, John McCranie, Laura McCranie, Shannon Singer, Justin Singer, Jake Singer, Elissa Singer, Saralyn Fletcher Wallace and husband, Roy Wallace and Erin Fletcher; two great-grandchildren, Jaylin McCant and D. J. Nixon; and two sisters, Joyce Davis of Macon and Julia Arthur of Tifton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International, Tifton Camp, P. O. Box 7051, Tifton, GA 31793; or the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, 4605 Murray Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794.
