Obituary

Lincoln A. DeMoura, Ed.D, of Taunton, entered into rest Monday, July 31 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (Blevins) DeMoura. He was born 78 years ago in Taunton, son of the late Antone and Florence (Lincoln) DeMoura. He was educated in Taunton and received an Associate of Science from Dean College, majoring in Education. Lincoln received his Bachelor of Science from the State College at Bridgewater, majoring in Elementary School Education, and received his Masters of Education Study from the State College at Bridgewater, specializing in Elementary School Administration. Lincoln was awarded a Certificate of Advances Educational Study (C.A.G.S.) from Boston University, specializing in the utilization of a systems approach for effective school leadership. He received his Doctor of Education from the University of Massachusetts. He was a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Lincoln was employed as Superintendant of the Town of Norton Public Schools. He previously served as Superintendant of the Town of Mashpee Public Schools. He was formerly the Assistant Superintendant of the City of Taunton Public Schools. Prior to these positions, Lincoln was Principal of the Walker School in Taunton and Assistant Principal of the Martin School in East Taunton. Following retirement, he served as Principal of Our Lady of Lourdes School in Taunton. He was a member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Prince Henry Society. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church in East Taunton.

In addition to his wife, he leaves: 4 sons: Lincoln H. Demoura and his wife, Sherry of Taunton, Kurt DeMoura of Taunton, Douglas W. DeMoura and his wife, Bethany of No. Dighton, and Eric M. DeMoura of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; 3 brothers: Brian DeMoura and his wife, Barbara of Pennsylvania, David and Jeffrey DeMoura both of Mass.; 1 sister: Robin Hicks and her husband, Jim of N.H.; 11 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, August 4 at 8:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Holy Family Church, E.Taunton, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS., 66675-8516.
