Obituary

FRANKLIN: William A. “Billy” Bixby, 83, a longtime Franklin resident, died peacefully, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Serenity Hill Nursing Home in Wrentham, following an extended period of failing health.

Born in Stockton Springs, Maine, on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14, 1934, a son of the late Howard W. and Meribah “Mead” Bixby. He retired many years ago from the Clark Cutler-McDermott Co., in Franklin, where he worked for more than 35 years.

In his earlier days, he worked on the former Phealan Farm in Franklin, where he came to love and appreciate animals especially horses and all other animals. He loved all sports, enjoyed watching TV and always had his police and fire scanner on.

Immediate survivors include two brothers, Robert P. Bixby of Cedar Key, FL. and Roger D. Bixby of Palatka, FL., many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Edwin N. Bixby, H. Wayne Bixby, Barbara I. Leonard, and Jane Baker.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Saturday, August 5th, at 1:00 PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Franklin. Internment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Brownfield, Maine.

Calling hours are Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Franklin Food Pantry, 58 Main St. Franklin, MA 02038.
