George C. Glodis, 89, of Worcester formerly of Washington, D.C., died peacefully Thursday July 27, 2017 in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, 559 Plantation St.
He leaves two nieces, Karen Daviau of Worcester and Nancy Gonyea and her husband Arthur of Florida; a nephew, Paul Glodis of Florida, great nieces, great nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert Glodis and Frederick Glodis, a niece, Kathleen Tugaw and the love of his life, Ryta R. Smith. He was born and raised in Worcester, a son of Dominic and Catherine (Benusas) Glodis and graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade High School. George relocated to Washington, D.C. and resided there for almost 50 years.
Mr. Glodis was a mail carrier 24 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, D.C. and retired in 1988. He was a member of the former St. Casimir Church and the former Lithuanian Naturalization and Social Club both in Worcester.
The funeral will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10:30 AM in the Chapel at Notre Dame du Lac, 555 Plantation St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Friday August 4,2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame Long Term Care, 559 Plantation St., Worcester, MA., 01605
