Patrick J. Whelan of Canton died peacefully July 28, 2017. He was 90 years old. Patrick was originally from Newfoundland, but raised his family in Canton. He was a retired electrician and a proud member of the Local #103 Union IBEW for over 64 years. He was a member of the Canton Senior Men’s Club where he enjoyed bowling, a longtime member of the former Gold’s Gym in Stoughton for many years and a past president of Pleasant Circle Improvement Association. Patrick was also a boating and snowmobiling enthusiast. Beloved husband of the late Margaret E. Whelan (Brown). Loving father of Daniel P. Whelan and his wife Theresa of Yarmouth Port, Sandra J. Whelan-Denehy and her husband Daniel of Canton, and Pam M. Gutowski and her husband Mark of Canton. Beloved friend of Anna Mclarey of Kingston. Proud grandfather of Whitney Denehy, Michael Denehy, Thomas Gutowski, and Timothy Gutowski. Visiting hours in the Roache-Pushard Home for Funerals, 210 Sherman St., Canton on Wednesday August 2, 2017 from 4-8 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Gerard Majella Church 1860 Washington St. Canton. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
