Obituary

WAYLAND: Philip L. “Phil” Badders, 90, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at his residence in Wayland.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 20, 1927.
Phil was the beloved and devoted husband for 67 years of Ida L. (Siclari) Badders of Wayland. Loving father of Richard Badders of Framingham formerly of Wayland; Nancy Badders Maurer and her husband Ken Maurer of Oviedo, FL and Susan Badders LoSardo and her husband Stephen LoSardo of Churchville, PA. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Maurer and Natalie Maurer both of Oviedo, FL and David and Christopher LoSardo both of Churchville, PA. Brother of Margaret “Peggy” Badders of Yonkers, NY and Paul Lundy of Monroe Township, NJ. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Phil spent his formative years in the Bronx, New York and moved to Wayland in 1956. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Machinist Mate Third Class with the United States Navy.
Phil received his BS in Business Administration from Boston College in 1965. He began his career as a Radio Technician for the Burroughs Corporation in Bath, Maine and monitored radio signals on the coast of Maine and New England. He was a Radio Technician in the Field of Frequency Modulation receiving his certificate from the Pierce Technical School of New York. In 1956, he moved to Wayland and began his career as an accountant with the Raytheon Corporation in Bedford where he retired after many years of dedicated service.
Phil worked out several days a week at the Longfellow Sports Club in Natick until he was 87 years of age. He was an avid runner and could be seen doing so throughout Wayland. He also enjoyed running on the track at Wayland High School. He competed in the Senior Games in Massachusetts in 1995 as a track runner.
At his home in Wayland, he raised bees and entered his beloved Irish Setter “Rusty” in many local dog competitions where he received many awards.
Phil was a quiet man who was devoted to his beloved Ida and his family who were the center of his life.
Memorial Visitations will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 10:30 and until 11:15 am followed by a Private Family Service at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Wayland with Reverend David O’Leary.
