Obituary

BUXTON- Joseph Antonio Dias "Joe" 77 passed away at home with his family and friends by his side on July 28, 2017 in Buxton Maine after a short battle with Cancer.
Joe (Papa as he was called by many) was born on August 28, 1939 in Portland Maine to Margaret Mary DePalmer and Joseph Anthony Dias. Joe was proud to grow up in
the Portland area.

He was proud to serve his country in the Marine Corp 1956-1959.

Joe worked for many years at S.D. Warren paper mill in Westbrook as a paper machine operator where he evenutally retired in 1994.

Joe is survived by his long time companion and short time wife of 30 years Cheryl Dyer also of Buxton. He is survied by his Son Derrick (Angela) Dias of Nebraska,
Step-daughter Charchelle (Raymond) Lestage of Limerick brothers Robert Laskey (Nancy) of Gorham, George Laskey of Standish, Paul Laskey (Doreen) of Rockwood,
sisters Mary Gray (Tom) of Buxton, Margaret of Standish and several neices and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Margaret Mary DePalmer and Joseph Anthony Dias
his step-father Milford Laskey Sr, sister Donna and Brothers Milford Jr. and Michael (Giggy) Laskey.

Some of his many passions was working on cars/stock cars, boats, motocycles, carpentry, wood working, cooking and collecting "Stuff" and being the neighborhood
babysitter. Joe loved to be on the water in Portland Harbor as he was a avid fisherman/Lobsterman. His other passion was his granddaughters Alexis & Camryn Lestage whom
was the apple of Papa's eye
A celebration of life with USMC Honors will be held on Friday Aug.4 at 3 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, Maine 04086
