Obituary

Lowell Thomas Butz, 77, of Anderson died July 27, 2017 at Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Born December 6, 1939 in Swayzee to Charles Willis and Virginia Roba Lee (Ressler) Butz, Lowell attended Marion High School and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering. Lowell also proudly served in the United States Navy and was a disabled Vietnam veteran. After 30 years as an Engineer with Delco Remy, Lowell retired in 1992.
Lowell was very engaged in his Community. He was a devout member of Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church and he participated in a number of local Community association like the Middletown Masonic Lodge # 2 71; the Middletown Order of the Eastern Star # 110; the Anderson Morning Rotary; the American Legion and the Central Indiana Old Car Club.
Lowell also had a number of favorite hobbies like collecting old cars and toy trains. His pride and joy was his 1926 Velie and he celebrated mightily his Purdue University and Green Bay Packer football teams. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and the original Star Trek although he claimed not to be a trekkie. He was a faithful loving husband and loved his blended family.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Ruefenacht) Butz of Anderson whom he married at Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church on February 14, 1986; his five children, Joseph (Kym) Butz of Washington, DC; Michael (Milinda) Butz of Hudson, FL; Amber (John) Longnaker, Heather (Randy) Jones and Tiffany (Lonnie) Patton all of Anderson; Sister, Sue (Duane) Shafer of Vernon, FL; Mother-in-Law, Sally Irene Ruefenacht of Anderson; Aunt, Sarah Roe of Roann, IN; fourteen grandchildren, Shea Spath, Quinn Butz; Emily Butz, Charles Roeth, Christopher Roeth, Mallory (Clint) Shoemaker, Isabel Longnaker, Graham Longnaker, Lacey Dunwiddie; Ayrika Dunwiddie, Nicole Wilbur, Jessica Patton, Justin Patton and Jacob Patton; five great grandchildren and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Butz.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Serge Monperuse and Pastor Leon Pomeroy officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with an OES service beginning at 7 pm followed by a Middletown Masonic Lodge service.
