Carol A. Podgorski, 70, of Sturbridge Avenue, Greenville, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Thomas J. Podgorski. They recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on June 22nd.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Vincente and Anna (Serafin) Monente. She had lived in Greenville for the past 39 years and had previously lived in Providence.
She graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1964, third in her class. She was a staff RN in the NICU at Woman and Infants Hospital before retiring. She was also a CSNT with a Master of Science in Nursing Education with a concentration in Pediatrics and a CSNT, RIDE Certification and substitute in the Burillville School System. She had been a clinical instructor of pediatrics and a lecturer and Clinical Faculty at RI and URI.
Carol was known for her compassion and was people were very comfortable talking to her and she was more than willing to help them resolve any issues they were having. She was a valued confidant.
She was an advocate for animals supporting the SPCA, she loved spending the day at the beach, mostly East Matunuck and Bonnet Shores. She took great pride in her yard and enjoyed growing flowers and plants.
Her funeral service will be held Friday at 11:30am am in Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial private. Visitation Thursday 4-6pm.
