Marjorie B. (McNamara) Fontaine, age 87, passed away on July 21, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on Nov. 26, 1929 in Springfield. She was a daughter of the late Reginald and Gertrude (Macklin) McNamara. She is predeceased by her husband Edmond Fontaine who passed away in 1995. Marjorie was a member of the First Congregational Church in Chicopee. She loved to travel and was completely devoted to her angel “Jimmy”, their bond was incredible. Marjorie loved people and she was very sociable-she loved conversation, she was well known wherever she went. She was very thrifty and loved to find a bargain. She was excellent at money management and very quick witted. She had several devoted girlfriends, many who have already passed. She was funny and always came up with a funny comment to lighten up any situation. She leaves her 2 sons, David Fontaine and his wife Teresa of Virginia and James Fontaine of Belchertown; 1 daughter Pamela Basso of Gloucester; 1 sister Phyllis Sisson and her husband Norman of Chicopee; 3 beloved grandchildren, Benjamin, Edmond and Victoria and 1 sister in law Barbara Fontaine of Chicopee with whom she was very close to. She is predeceased by her siblings Richard, Robert and Ralph McNamara and Shirley Topor. She was extremely devoted to her special needs son, Jimmy, and loved dearly her three grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Pam as to her, Mom was truly her very best friend. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home followed by burial in St Rose de Lima Cemetery.
