Phillip M. Gallagher 72, of Bellingham, died peacefully at home, with family at his side, Friday, July 21, 2017 following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Catherine (Manning) Gallagher, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Born December 19, 1944 in Norwood, a son of the late Joseph M. and Thelia (Martin) Gallagher, he was a resident of Bellingham for over 48 years.
Phillip was raised and educated in Dedham and was a member of the Dedham High School Class of 1962. He continued his education at Wentworth University and graduated with an associate’s degree in engineering in 1964. Phillip was a retired civil engineer having worked for many years for Peabody Construction and later was a consultant on many other projects.
He treasured spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, traveling, boating and playing golf. Phillip was a former member of the Town of Bellingham Zoning Board of Appeals, the Town of Bellingham Board of Health and was a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Michael P. Gallagher and his wife Deirdre of Northboro, a daughter, Christine M. Niethe and her husband Bill of Tiverton, RI, a sister, Thelia Thompson and her husband Ron of Princeton, MA, his granddaughters, Erin and Elise Gallagher, two nieces Julie Webb and Toryn Bright, and a nephew Ryan Thompson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Saturday July 29th, at 1PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Interment will be held privately.
Calling hours are Saturday from 11AM-1PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
