John Frederick Gibbs, 88, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Salone Green officiating. Mr. Gibbs will be laid to rest at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Gibbs’ grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 21, 1929 in Tift County, Mr. Gibbs was the son of the late Luther Gibbs and Lillian Garren Gibbs. He retired from Tifton Aluminum Company in 1994. He was a member of Carpenter Road Church of God and former trustee of Tifton’s First Assembly of God.
Mr. Gibbs is survived by his wife, Vera Mae Boykin Gibbs of Tifton; three daughters, Linda Giddens of Enigma and Connie Bussey and Donna Horn, both of Tifton; one sister, Kathleen Doles of Dublin; seven grandchildren, Tara Little, Traci Strickland, Toney Anderson, Emily Horn Wise, Monica Horn Windham, Adam Horn and Aaron Bussey; ten great-grandchildren, Asche Little, Larkyn Little, Mark Strickland, Mak Strickland, Mason Strickland, Micole Strickland, Amber Anderson, Dorian Anderson, Draven Anderson and Hannah Claire Bussey; and two great-great grandchildren, Ali Grace Anderson and Katie Beth Anderson.
