Curtis George Lenart died in Ventura on July 17, 2017. He was 54 years old.
Curtis was born in Greeley, Colorado on October 4, 1962 to Doris Kern Lenart
and Leslie Oscar Lenart who immigrated from Budapest Hungary to the United
States in 1949. He graduated from Cresecenta Valley High School in 1980. He was
graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, California with a BA
in Economics in December 1985. He was a life long loyal CAL Bear fan and supporter.
He received a certificate in Fitness Instruction from the University of California,
Los Angeles, California in June 2007. He earned the American College of Sports Medicine
(ACSM) Certified Fitness Instructor certification in November 2007.
He worked for Montgomery Ward in Ventura, CA from 1986 to 1996 and later for
AT&T Wireless Services in Camarillo, CA from 1995 to 2000 as a Sales Trainer/Dealer Auditor.
At the age of 39, Curtis became self employed and soon thereafter published
two books, "How to Shop For A Cell Phone,” published by Black Forest Press, June 1999 and
“Navigating The Wireless Rapids,” published by Black Forest Press, July 2004. The books
were written for ordinary consumers and delighted thousands of readers with the stories of Herbie
the Cellphone.
In 2007, Curtis took another career path when he became a health screener
and health educator for HealthFitness of Minneapolis, MN where he worked from 2007 to 2013.
Curtis traveled the country for HealthFitness working at many high profile events at Fortune 500
companies. He was considered by many at HealthFitness as absolutely reliable and more importantly,
a sweet soul. During 2016 and 2017, Curtis was instrumental in reviving the Lenart family business
of Seven Seas Travel of Eastpointe, MI.
Chris was also an avid tennis player and loved playing with his friends and family at the Pierpont
Racquet Club of Ventura, CA. He developed many of his friendships through the game of tennis.
He was active runner as well and ran 10-15 miles per day from his early 30s until his early
50s. He was a top 1,000 finisher at the LA Marathon in 1993. His sense of humor was legendary.
Curtis was buried at sea on the afternoon of Saturday, 29 July off the coast of Ventura in the
presence of many of his friends. A further memorial is planned for mid September 2017 in the Detroit,
MI area for members of the Seven Seas Travel community of Eastpointe, MI.
Curtis will be missed by so many but we rest in the assurance of God's word that he is now in
the loving arms of his mother, Doris Lenart.
