Obituary

Salvatore "Sal" Fiamma, a 60 year resident of Charlestown and longtime patron on Hanover St. in the North End of Boston, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 82 years old.

Sal was born in Mistretta, Messina, Sicily, Italy on April 11, 1935, a son of the late Guiseppi Fiamma and Rosaria (Amendola) Fiamma. He grew up in Sicily, Italy until the age of 17 when he immigrated to the United States and lived in Connecticut for a short period of time where he enlisted into the United States Army and served his country faithfully before moving to Charlestown. Sal began working in the restaurant business at a very young age in the Boston area and became Head Host at Joseph's Restaurant on Dartmouth St. in Boston for over 30 years and also worked at several other restaurants in the area. Sal was also a Consultant in the restaurant business in the Boston area and was well known for his hospitality and instrumental in helping many starting out in business.

Sal is the husband of 59 years to Eleanor R. (Ferranti) Fiamma. He is the devoted father of Vinnie Fiamma and his wife Kathy, Gina Fiamma, John Fiamma, Diana Fiamma, Elena Donovan and Dorinna Fiamma. He is the loving Papa to Vince, Alyse, Zach, Isabelle, Nicole, Giuliana, Thomas, Breno and Sean. He is also lovingly survived by his granddogs Dexter, Dazy and Rosco. He is the beloved brother of the late Sebby Fiamma, Benny Fiamma and Joe Fiamma. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by his many friends and associates on Hanover St. in the North End.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sal's visiting hours on Friday morning, July 21, 2017 from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
