Obituary

Scarsciotti, Anthony R. Sr. of Dedham beloved husband of Elizabeth G. (Papasodero) died on July 18, 2017. He just celebrated his 94th birthday. Born in Boston’s North End to the late Millie (Ameila Sordello) and the late Joseph Scarsciotti. He leaves his brother Joseph of Pembroke, Rita Allitto of Woburn, and the late Robert of Medfield.

Anthony and his family moved to the West End of Boston. He was drafted into WWII at the age of 18. He was part of the 13th Army Air stationed in the Philippines as a forward radio operator in front of the front lines signaling air crafts where to bomb.

Anthony and Elizabeth were married in 1945, they moved to Dedham in 1953. They raised 4 children. Anthony Jr. of Wareham, Richard of Wrentham, Cheryl of Norwood, and Paula Sulprizio of Norwood. He has seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Anthony was a successful Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, lecturer, and instructor. He retired from Polaroid Corp. in 1989. Anthony was also a skilled musician, and was accepted into the Glen Miller band before going to war. He was also well known for his band “Tony Scott Orchestra”. He played for many years in the Metro Boston area. His drum instructor was the same person as Gene Krupa (the famous solo drummer). As a musician Anthony also had “perfect pitch”.

Donations may be made in Anthony’s name to the Dedham School of Music at the following website (dedhamschoolofmuscic.org). A private funeral service will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St. Dedham, Friday July 21, followed by a private burial in Knollwood Memorial Park at the Veteran Section in Canton, MA.
