Mansfield, Texas------Robert "Bob" David Chapman, 83, former longtime resident of Laconia, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
Bob was born and raised in Laconia, NH, the son of Gordon and Pearl Chapman. He graduated from Laconia High School and the University of New Hampshire. He served in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne Division and retired from General Dynamics/Lockheed.
Bob loved people, bargains, lobster and family gatherings and enjoyed many visits to Florida and New Hampshire with family and friends.
Bob's happy demeanor and generous spirit will be missed.
Bob is survived by his children, Robin Leming of Dallas TX, Jo Lynn Dobie and her husband, Craig of Mansfield TX, Tod Chapman and his wife, Penny of Dallas TX,Greg Chapman and Michelle Gordon of Arlington TX; six grandchildren, Josh, Cory, Brooks, Regan, Connor, Jaila; one great-grandson Aiden; sister, Gwen Bastraw and her husband, Bill of Laconia, sister-in-law Edwyna Chapman of Richland WA, nieces Deborah Strankman and her husband Mark of Richland WA, Marcia Cotter and her husband Steve of Laconia, Connie Baron of Laconia, Randy Hancock of Laconia, Barbara Reid and her husband John of Richmond VA, Kristen Bastraw of Laconia; nephew Michael Bastraw of Laconia; and former wife and friend, Jane (Deunlap) Campbell of Arlington TX.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 21, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:30am at Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia, NH.
