Leonard Duerel York, 84, of Rebecca passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Pruitt Health in Ashburn. Private services and burial for Mr. York will be held at a later date at Twin Rivers Baptist Church Cemetery in Nahunta.
Born April 25, 1933 in Marion County, Alabama, Mr. York was the son of the late Thomas Howard York and Rosa Louella Ford York. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Karris Rowell York; one son, Dean York; two brothers, Thomas Alton " Big T" York and his twin brother, James Huel York; and one sister, Lena Brooks. He was a retired security guard and a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. York is survived by two daughters, Marie Batten and Lynn York, both of Nahunta; and four grandchildren, Rebecca Herrin, Daniel Batten, Charlie Batten and Michael York.
