Laconia-----Hope Warner Walker, 80, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Lakes Region General Hospital after an extended period of failing health.
Born in 1937 in New York City to Cecil and Susan Warner, Hope spent her younger years in Millbrook, NY, growing up on the Henry Harkness Flagler summer estate. She was an avid member of her local 4-H Club, raising and showing award winning Black Angus steers. Following high school she attended the Long Island Agricultural and Technical Institute, where she met her future husband of 58 years, Bryan Walker. In 1967, they moved to Maine, where they raised their daughter Donna and son David. As her children grew older, Hope reentered the work force in the medical and then educational fields as an executive secretary.
Hope was an outdoors woman who enthusiastically shared her love for gardening, hiking, canoeing, and especially bird watching, with those around her, sometimes bringing specimens home for all to see. She was also an avid reader who instilled the love of books and libraries in all of her family.
After their retirement Hope and Bryan spent many years “full-timing it” in a series of motor homes as they toured the United States and made many happy memories. They ultimately settled in New Hampshire to be near family, most recently residing at the Taylor Community, where they found wonderful support and friendship from both the staff and residents.
In addition to Bryan, Donna and her husband Tom, David and his wife Debbie, Hope leaves behind grandchildren Alexandria, Katherine, Seth, Caleb, and Nathan and his wife Katerina, and great-granddaughter Hermione.
Per Hope's wishes, her life will be celebrated in a private family gathering.
