Shirley R. Hoxie, age 85, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Brockton Hospital following a period of failing health with her family. Born in Keene, NH, she was the daughter of the late Hollis Wilber and Pauline (Sweet) Crovo and was the oldest of three children. Shirley was raised in NH and later in Randolph, MA, where her family owned and operated Harry’s Diner.
Shirley attended Hairdressing school in Boston and had a long career as a hairdresser in Brockton. She later retired to Cape Cod after 45 years to be near her children and later moved to Abington.
Shirley was the mother of Bob Hoxie of Sandwich, Pete Hoxie of Idaho and Gail Hoxie Childs of Hyannis; sister of Sara Hurley and David Starbuck; grandmother of Justin, Alyssa, Josh, Sophie and the late Peter; and great grandmother of many. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at Bella’s, 933 Hingham Street in Rockland between 6pm-8pm on July 17. 2017.
