Obituary

On Saturday, July 8, 2017 heaven selected its newest angel, Stephanie Elizabeth Chasteen Brimmer.
She made the transition from her earthly home into the palm of God’s hand with the grace and dignity that defined her entire life. Surrounding her in love, as they held her hand, were her husband, mother, mother and father-in-law, niece, pastor, and long-time friend.
Born to Donald L. and Beverly J. Bennett Chasteen, Stephanie resided in Louisville, Kentucky her entire life and was well-known for her kindness, sweet disposition, and desire to be there for anyone in need.
She graduated from Pleasure Ridge Park High School as a member of the Advanced Program. As a Senior, she was honored to be included in Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She then entered Bellarmine University on both Academic and Music Performance scholarships. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Music.
Stephanie made use of her excellent human relation skills while working at the Center for Accessible Living - first as a Counselor, and then as the Program Manager for the Personal Care Attendant Program (PCAP). Her life was dedicated to helping others first, foremost, and always. She loved and was loved by all she touched.
Stephanie’s sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile brought love and sunshine into every room she entered. Her sharp wit and sense of humor could bring down the house with a single word or glance. No one had better command of the English language.
She loved and had tremendous compassion for all God’s creatures - especially her beloved boxers. Stephanie understood their unconditional love because she also loved unconditionally.
Stephanie was a devout Lutheran and a lifelong member of St. Mark Lutheran Church; she so looked forward to the upcoming 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.
Stephanie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Chris, her mother Bev, mother and father-in-law, Andrea and Nick Harp, and a host of devoted family members, friends, colleagues, and her beloved boxer Katie.
Special thanks to Dr. Donald Miller, Dr. Jason Chesney, Sandy, Marlene, Max, and Ernie of Brown Cancer Center who cared so diligently for her throughout her journey.
Donations to Stephanie’s memory can be made to the Center for Accessible Living or the KY Humane Society Medical Financial Aid Fund - please indicate “to be used specifically for boxers.”
