SOUTH PORTLAND- Louise A. Jenkins, age 80, who lived most of her life in South Portland and is most recently of Limerick, passed away on July 8, 2017 at the Barron Center in Portland.
She was born on Dec. 20, 1936, a daughter of the late William and Ruth (Long) Charlesworth.
Louise worked for the Songo Shoe Factory for several years along with her two sons. She also worked at 75 State Street and the Holiday Inn.
Louise will always be remembered as a loving family person who loved to catch up with relatives and friends at parties.
Besides her love of family, she enjoyed dancing, going for walks, feeding the birds and squirrels at her home and going to the lake and park, and was a craft enthusiast and enjoyed coloring.
Louise is predeceased by her former husband- Phillip Jenkins; and a son- Eugene Jenkins.
She is survived by her children- William Jenkins, Linda Jenkins, and Cheryl Sawyer; sister- Ruth Verrill; grandchildren- Shannon Dunnells, Danielle Hinkley, and Christina Prescott; and great grandchildren- Lillian Dunnells, Caleb Prescott, and Audrey Prescott.
A committal service will be held on Tuesday July 25 at 10 AM at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland. Pastor John Libby will officiate. A celebration of Louise’s life will follow at the North Congregational Church, 22 Church Hill Road, in Buxton.
