Euplio A. “Abbie” DeAngelis, a Medford resident for over fifty years, and formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, July 6th at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford. He was 93.
Born in Boston, he was raised in the North End, and was the son of the late Antonio and Antoinetta DeAngelis. After graduating from high school, Abbie began his career as a manufacturer in the meat packing industry, with the Columbia Gem Packing Company of South Boston. Abbie worked with Columbia Gem for over thirty years, and after his retirement, he spent most of his time with family. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching his favorite Boston sports teams, the Red Sox and Bruins.
Abbie was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Carbone) DeAngelis, who passed away in 2011. The two shared sixty–five loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Anthony DeAngelis of Medford, Joseph DeAngelis and his wife Susan, John DeAngelis and his wife Rosemarie, all of Tewksbury. Abbie was the loving grandfather of Nicole, Joseph and Michael DeAngelis, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, July 12th at 10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
