FALL RIVER – Anthony S. (Tony) Arruda, III, age 74, passed away on July 6, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Anthony S. and Jennie (DePonte) Arruda. Tony was an All-Bristol County League tackle and Trevisano Award winner at B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1961. He played football at American International College in Springfield, class of 1965. Tony was a CCD teacher at Espirito Santo Parish and a longtime employee of New England Power in Somerset.
Anthony is survived by his siblings Arthur S. Arruda (loving partner Elaine), JoAnna A. Sunderland (husband Charlie) and Kenneth G. Arruda (wife Janelle) all of Westport; as well as nephew Alec Arruda and niece Jennie Arruda.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Espirito Santo Church at 10 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Monday from 4-8 P.M.
