Gilda A. (Amarello) Mello, age 96, of Fall River, passed away on Thursday July 6, 2017 at Somerset Ridge Center. She was the daughter of the late Antonio C. and Maria S. (Massa) Amarello, and wife of the late Police Captain Antone C. Mello. Gilda was a floor supervisor and machine operator for the Fall River Garment Industry, a member of the ILGWU, Disabled American Veterans Women’s Auxillary and an active member of St. Michael’s parish and Women’s Guild.
She is survived by her sons James A. Mello (wife Susan) of Assonet, MA, and William A. Mello (wife Cynthia) of Waterford CT., 2 granddaughters, a great granddaughter, great grandson, a sister in law; Cynthia Amarello, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her siblings; Arthur, Joseph, Manuel and Connie Amarello, John Amarel and MaryAguiar.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River Wednesday with extended calling hours from 9:00-10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 11:00 A.M.
