Carolyn Williams Russell, age 63, died Thursday, July 6, 2017 at her home in Oakland, MS. She was born in Quitman County, MS on May 10, 1954 to the late John Sharp Williams and Vera Mae Vick Williams and was married to Marlin Russell. Carolyn enjoyed making quilts and working in her flower beds. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the Oakland Baptist Church in Oakland. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, July 9, 2017 with Brother Jimmy Hood officiating. Burial will be in Lambert Cemetery with William Russell, James Williams, Brandon McClenic, Steven McClenic, Tim Williams, Burt Morris, David Lyons, and Dickey McLeod serving as pallbearers.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Marlin Russell of Oakland, MS; two daughters, Lisa Russell of Oakland, MS and Debbie Chambers (Ben) of Courtland, MS; two sons, William Russell of Canton, MS and Tommy (Tonya) Russell of Louisiana; one brother, James Williams (Patricia) of Crowder, MS; twelve grandchildren, Shyann, Britney, Tori, TJ, Kyia, Shelby, Victoria, Olivia, Ashley, Brandon, Anabelle, and Steven; four great grandchildren, Hunter, Eli, Fisher, and Conner; and two very special friends, Dianne Lyons and Debbie McLeod.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Marlin Lee “ML” Russell; four sisters, Ann Pearson, Janet Carpenter, Ruby Kennedy, and Shirley Turner; and four brothers, James “Pug” Williams, Marvin Williams, David Williams, and John Edwards Williams.
