Wendell F. Grant, 85, of Windham, NH passed away on July 5, 2017 with his wife and children by his bedside after a period of declining health. He was born on May 3, 1932 in Concord, NH a son of the late Wendell F. and Grace (Johnson) Grant. Mr. Grant grew up in Concord, and attended Concord public schools where he excelled in sports. While at Concord High School, he lettered in football and basketball and was part of the winning State Championship Teams. He then graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point, and completed Officer Basic Course followed by his airborne training at Fort Benning, GA.
On February 11, 1955 he married Sandra Ann Reynolds, daughter of Clyde and Lita Reynolds, Montpelier, VT. She joined him in his first assignment to the Panama Canal Zone where one of his duties was teaching at the Jungle Warfare Training Camp at Fort Kobbe.
In 1957, he resigned from the army and began a long career with Philadelphia Gear Corporation, starting as a salesman and working his way to Vice President of Sales. He decided to open W. F. Grant & Assoc. in 1982 in Windham, NH, representing Philadelphia Gear in NY, NH, & MA.
Golf was the sport he enjoyed most and found challenging. He was a member of the Nashua and Manchester Country Clubs and was fortunate to play many renowned US courses as well as in Scotland and Ireland.
Family was the most important thing in his life and he encouraged his three children in every way. He leaves his wife of 62 years Sandra, his daughter Leah, son Matthew, plus 7 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his oldest daughter Diane and her daughter Isabelle Rose.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, private memorial services will be held by the family at a later date.
