Laura (Cardozo) Raposa, 91, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones at her home on Davis Road in Westport, where she was born on September 18, 1925. She was wife of the late Louis Raposa, to whom she was married for 56 years.
A lifelong resident of Westport, she was daughter of the late Jacintho J. and Maria (Barbosa) Cardozo. Mrs. Raposa was a homemaker and served as a caretaker for children and the elderly for many years. She was a devoted Roman Catholic for whom the recitation of the rosary was especially meaningful. She enjoyed watching the barn swallows on her porch and loved the company of her family along with her pet cat Rusty.
Survivors include her son: Michael L. Raposa and his wife Mary Ellen of Bethlehem, PA; 2 daughters: Katherine M. Flaherty of Coraopolis, PA and Constance M. Trepanier of Westport; 5 grandchildren: Joshua and Steven Trepanier and Daniel, Elizabeth and Rosemary Raposa; 2 great grandchildren: Emma and Parrish; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by 10 loving brothers and sisters.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Friday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
