New Bedford – Serafina “Cesaltina” Moniz, age 101 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Carlos Moniz and was the daughter of the late Maria da Conceicao (Cabral) and Manuel Raposo.
She was born in Ramalho, St. Michael, Azores and was employed as a seamstress for Belmont Manufacturing.
She is survived by her 2 children, Olga Maria Amaral and her husband, Manuel of New Bedford; Antonio Moniz and daughter-in-law Maria Moniz of Toronto, Canada; 3 grandchildren; Deborah Vicente and her husband, Luis, Roy Moniz and his wife Josie, Robert Charles Moniz; 5 great-grandchildren, Mathew Vicente, Tiffany Vicente, Marco Moniz, Marisa Moniz, Madeline Moniz; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Her funeral will be on Saturday beginning in the funeral home at 7:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial following at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 8:30 A.M.
