Obituary

John J. Bracken, 71, of Plymouth passed away at home on Friday, June 30, 2017 after a long illness. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Ponte) Bracken, the "love of his life," with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Born in South Boston, son of the late Timothy J. and Rita (Cassidy) Bracken, he lived in Plymouth for most of his life.

John served as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1965 to 1971. He was especially proud to be a Paratrooper and wore the Paratrooper insignia on his left forearm.

He attended the Northeastern University School of Business.

John was well known in the seafood business, selling frozen seafood for over 40 years. Most recently, he was employed as the East Coast Sales Manager for Royal Greenland Seafood and Harbor Seafood.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jonna Duvernoy and her husband John of Seattle and Jaimee Chapin and her husband Geoffrey of Cohasset; his grandson, Andrew Chapin; his brother, Thomas Bracken and his wife Patricia; and three nieces.

His Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Bonaventure Church, 801 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet).
